Sunshine on Schools

It is curious that this newly released web site is found to be of value by my opponent. I too find it to be a reasonable way to view gross comparisons of school districts.

The question I have is why can't we do this on the DPI web site? It isn't a huge technology leap.

not a chance that your opponent would advocate for a tool on the website. he can't access one without someone else sitting infront of him at the computer

There is no questions that Sunshine on Schools is a valuable tool. Every state legislator should be reviewing this website at least monthly.

Why would DPI be opposed to having easy to understand information on their website? It is easier to understand than the maze they put out. History has shown us that people cover up if they only have something to hide. Don't tell me we have a Nixonian DPI - cover-ups, hidden information, untruthfulness and the "we will get you mentality if you criticize us." One of Sanstead's Assistant Directors recently made the comment that, "he is 73 years old, he needs to start spending time with his family and step down." This tuly was stated to me in a phone conversation.

Do not know Mr. Laird or what his education agenda will be but he cannot do a worse job than what we already have. At least we could get rid of the "Tom & Anita Decker show."

The education of our children should be the state's most important concern. The current Superintendant stated in a letter to the Editor of the Bismarck Tribune that the reason DPI did not want funding information such as this website publishes on the DPI web is because the people of ND do not understand funding for education. It is really sad that this department assumes people are stupid. I am willing to bet that most of the people that want this kind of information were educated in North Dakota. Does that not tell you it is time for a change if this department assumes we are too dumb?? One last thing, what does D. Massey do besides run around the state apoligizing for stupid, racist comments made by department heads?
